Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Wins Top Safety Prize: Five-Star Bharat NCAP Score Makes It India’s Safest Electric SUV
Maruti Suzuki has always made safe cars for Indian families. Now, their first all-electric SUV, the e Vitara, has proved it is one of the safest too. On December 3, 2025, Bharat NCAP shared the crash test results. The e Vitara got a perfect five-star rating. This is a big win for Maruti, India’s biggest carmaker. The e Vitara is their entry into the electric car world. It scores high in protecting adults and children during accidents.
The Bharat New Car Assessment Program (BNCAP) tested the e Vitara in many ways. They checked how well it keeps people safe in crashes. The results show the e Vitara is strong and smart. It protects drivers, passengers, and kids very well. This score puts it ahead of many rivals like the Hyundai Creta Electric and MG ZS EV.
Adult Protection: Almost a Perfect Score
The e Vitara did very well in tests for grown-up safety. It scored 31.49 points out of 32. This is very close to perfect.
In the front crash test, the car hit a barrier at 64 km/h. The e Vitara got 15.49 out of 16 points. The driver’s head, neck, pelvis, thighs, and feet had good protection. The chest and lower legs had enough safety. The car did not let the dummy move too much.

For the side crash, it was even better. The test used a moving barrier at 50 km/h. The e Vitara scored a full 16 out of 16 points. All important body parts like the head, chest, stomach, and hips got good protection. In the pole test, the side structure held strong.
BNCAP said the e Vitara has excellent side safety. This means it can handle hits from trucks or other cars on highways safely.
Child Protection: Strong Results with Small Room for Better
The e Vitara also protected kids well. It scored 43 out of 49 points in child safety tests.
In the dynamic test, it got a perfect 24 out of 24 points. They used dummies for an 18-month-old and a 3-year-old child. The seats were rear-facing with ISOFIX and leg support. In the front crash, both dummies scored 8 out of 8 points. In the side test, they got 4 out of 4 points. The car kept the children safe from strong forces.
The child seat installation was easy. It scored a full 12 out of 12 points. The e Vitara has good ISOFIX anchors and top tether points.
The only area that lost points was vehicle assessment. It got 7 out of 13 points. This means some small things like seat belt reminders for kids or child lock warnings could be better. Still, the score is very good overall.
Safety Features That Make e Vitara Special
Maruti packed the e Vitara with many safety tools. It has seven airbags for full protection. The Level-2 ADAS system helps the driver. It includes adaptive cruise control to keep a safe distance, lane keep assist to stay in lane, and emergency braking to stop crashes. A 360-degree camera shows everything around the car. TPMS tells you if tires have low air. Front and rear parking sensors beep for close objects. ISOFIX anchors make child seats secure. The electronic parking brake with Auto-Hold stops rolling on slopes. ESC keeps the car stable in turns. Seat belt reminders follow new rules. The car also protects pedestrians if hit.
The tested version was the top Alpha with 61 kWh battery. It gives 174 horsepower and 193 Nm torque in two-wheel drive. Range is up to 426 km. The smaller 49 kWh version has 144 horsepower, 193 Nm, and 344 km range.
Why This Five-Star Score Is a Big Deal for Maruti and India
Maruti Suzuki is India’s top car seller. They make over 2 million cars every year. The e Vitara is their first electric SUV. A five-star score shows they did not cut corners on safety.
