Mahindra Racing Ignites Formula E Season 12 with M12Electro Debut
London, October 16, 2025 – Mahindra Racing has fired up the electric racing world with the unveiling of its latest Formula E contender, the M12Electro, at an exclusive London event. Marking the team’s 12th season in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, the launch, attended by Mahindra & Mahindra Chairperson Anand Mahindra, symbolizes a bold leap toward podium glory and sustainable innovation. As the only Indian outfit at this elite level of motorsport, Mahindra is revving up for a season of high-stakes action, blending cutting-edge technology with national pride.
A Design That Roars with Heritage

The M12Electro dazzles with an evolved aesthetic: a vibrant metallic red, gloss white, and carbon black livery that pays homage to its legacy. Twelve symbolic stripes adorn the body, echoing Mahindra’s decade-plus journey in Formula E, while an Indian flag motif underscores its roots as a trailblazer for Indian motorsport on the global stage. This eye-catching design isn’t just for show—it’s engineered for aerodynamic efficiency and performance dominance in the electric arena.
From Turnaround to Top Ambitions

Under CEO and Team Principal Frederic Bertrand, Mahindra has engineered a stunning revival. Last season’s tripled points tally and five podiums in iconic races like Monaco, Jakarta, Berlin, and London propelled the team to fourth overall—a remarkable comeback. For Season 12, the goal is clear: crack the top three. “We’re rising to new heights on the track as our EVs do on the road,” Anand Mahindra declared, linking the car’s prowess to the group’s electrification drive.
Dr. Anish Shah, Group CEO & Managing Director, echoed the sentiment: “Mahindra Racing captures our essence—pioneering, purposeful, and change-making. It’s proof that tech and sustainability fuel each other.”
Driver Duo and Rising Star
Stability meets experience in the cockpit: Nyck de Vries and Edoardo Mortara return for a third straight season, bringing a formidable tally of 181 race starts, 10 victories, and 22 podiums. Their synergy has been key to recent successes, and they’ll pilot the M12Electro through the grueling 16-race calendar.
Backing them is Reserve Driver Kush Maini, India’s promising single-seater talent, who’ll hone his skills in rookie and practice sessions. This blend of veterans and youth positions Mahindra for consistent contention.
Power-Packed Partnership with Valvoline

Adding fuel to the fire is a fresh alliance with Valvoline Global Operations as Official Partner. The collaboration targets breakthroughs in eFluids and gearbox tech, optimizing efficiency in the zero-emission series. “This partnership shapes electric mobility’s future, proving performance and green goals align,” said Valvoline President and CEO Jamal Muashsher. Expect the M12Electro to showcase these innovations from the grid.
Road to the Podium: Testing and Season Kickoff
With the curtain-raiser in sight, the team heads to Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia for pre-season testing from October 27–31. This shakedown will fine-tune the M12Electro before the spotlight hits São Paulo, Brazil, on December 6, 2025. As Formula E accelerates toward net-zero racing, Mahindra’s 12-year odyssey continues, inspiring India’s EV dreams one lap at a time.
