Why Mahindra Is Building This Huge Charging Network

Making Long Trips Worry-Free

Most people love electric cars in cities, but they worry about long highway journeys. Mahindra wants to remove that worry completely. With super-fast 180 kW+ chargers on every important highway, drivers can add hundreds of kilometres of range during a tea or lunch break. A 20-25 minute stop will take most Mahindra electric SUVs from 20% to 80%.

Helping Every EV Owner, Not Just Mahindra Customers

Mahindra is not keeping the network only for its own cars. Anyone driving any electric vehicle can pull in and charge. This is a big step toward making India truly EV-ready.

Words from the Top Leader

Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of Mahindra’s automotive division, explained it simply:
“The future of electric mobility is about making long-distance travel as easy as driving inside the city. We are creating a strong highway charging backbone. Together with our new long-range electric SUVs, customers can confidently choose electric for every single journey—short or long.”

Mahindra’s Growing Family of Electric SUVs

Four Powerful Models Already on Roads

  1. XUV400 – the first Mahindra electric SUV
  2. BE 6 – bold design, born-electric
  3. XEV 9e – premium and tech-loaded
  4. XEV 9S—brand-new seven-seater (bookings open January 2026)

Three of these models (BE 6, XEV 9e, XEV 9S) are built on the modern INGLO platform that gives excellent range, fast charging, and fun driving.

Amazing Sales Numbers

In just seven months, customers bought over 30,000 BE 6 and XEV 9e SUVs. That is worth almost ₹8,000 crore! October 2025 was the best month ever—more than 3,900 units sold in one month alone.

Factory and Future Targets

Production Is Growing Very Fast

The Chakan plant near Pune is getting bigger every month. By the end of March 2026, it will make 8,000 electric vehicles every month. Mahindra plans to sell around 7,000 units each month.

25% Electric Dream by 2027-28

Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director and CEO (auto & farm sectors), says electric vehicles will make up one-fourth of all Mahindra sales within three years. The new charging network and exciting SUV lineup will help reach that goal.

Caring for the Planet Even After the Battery Ends

Mahindra is also planning battery recycling and safe end-of-life solutions. They already learned a lot from their successful electric three-wheeler business.

The Big Picture for India

With powerful new electric SUVs, thousands of super-fast chargers on highways, and factories running at full speed, Mahindra is doing everything needed to make electric driving the normal choice for Indian families—whether they travel 50 km or 500 km in a day.
