Gujarat Plans Big Electric Change: Every Government Car and Bus to Become Electric!
The Gujarat government is getting ready to make a major green move. It wants to replace all petrol and diesel vehicles used by state offices with electric vehicles (EVs). Officers are preparing clear rules for this change. The final decision will come very soon.
This topic is being discussed right now at the Chintan Shibir (policy workshop) in Valsad. The chief minister, ministers, and top officers are attending. They are looking at important goals for the state.
Gujarat already makes a lot of solar and wind power. It is one of the top states for renewable energy. But when it comes to electric vehicles, Gujarat stands only at number 16 in India. Government leaders say that if all state vehicles switch to electric, it will inspire private people and companies to do the same. It will also make the EV market grow faster.
The plan will happen step by step. Different departments will change their cars at different times so work is not disturbed. The government also wants to help Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) buy electric buses for good routes. More public charging stations will be built, not just in big cities like Ahmedabad and Surat, but also in smaller towns and district centers.
This move will bring many benefits:
- Less smoke and cleaner air
Lower fuel bills for the government
Less money sent outside India for petrol and diesel
Strong message that Gujarat supports clean energy
The government believes that when people see ministers and officers driving electric cars, they will feel confident to buy EVs for their own families.
Gujarat is already famous for green energy. Now it wants to become famous for green transport too!
